Why would a corrosion engineering firm want to add fuel treatment services?  Simply put, today’s fuels are less stable, allowing microorganisms to flourish in a biofuel enriched environment.  All that is needed is a little water inside of a fuel system and the microbes explode, doubling in population every 20 minutes.  This has created its own form of microbial induced corrosion, or MIC for short, that does far more damage to a tank in far less time then typical electrolytic corrosion. You probably have already seen MIC.  It’s the black, slimy, gooey stuff that often plug and clog your fuel filters.  Just image what it might be doing inside your customer tanks.  We have said it many a times… the environment is hostile, and it has gotten a bit more hostel with this newest form of corrosion to be concerned about.
